PROFILE PORTRAIT SERIES // RISD // 2010
this profile portrait series *faraway friends//studio friends//new friends* is a work in progress in which the literal profiles of my friends are rendered in web 2.0 colors, calling into question contemporary notions of what the word "profile" stands for (when i solicited images for this project at its outset, a few friends were confused as to whether i was asking them for a screen-shot of their online profile, or a photo of their facial profile). stripped of all but their most necessary elements for recognition, the profiles also call into question how much detail is necessary for one to recognize the figures represented in each portrait.
